Lol.. deathnote... I think you did wonderfully dear! I'm glad you were able to follow specifications.. though I did want a full body, I don't think I mentioned it lol.. anyway, colors are nice on his hair and his face is perdyfull...
Only think I would say is work on his hands. He kinda looks like he isn't holding the book, like it's only brushing against his fingertips.

Looks nice, babe! ;D On what Shannon says, just bend those fingers at their kunckles to make it look like he's holding the book. That's also something I still struggle with, so either it's not easy, or I'm stupid. Both are highly plausible 8| But you can do it!
I like the shading on the hair, but it's more of that vertical highlighting again. Just be sure to curve it AROUND his head, not UP AND OVER it. They're be a little bit more highlights on the right side than the left because of how your light source is working out.
Right now I see you're coloring the hair as if they were solid, flat pieces. If this was intentional I wouldn't fight you on it, but I can tell it's not. For all those "chopped bits" of hair that you have, it's a separate texture/layer/piece. So color it as such. For example, those lower left pieces of hair... ...oh god, it's so hard to explain this without actually pointing it out. But make each "hunk" of hair that you outlined separately with your pen its own separate plane. Color it separately. And the lowermost piece of hair wouldn't be all light on top, either. It'd be dark from the shadows of the greater mass of hair on top of it.
Hair is a tricky thing, but you're still doing pretty well. Like I said, the shading is pretty good, just gotta get those "planes" down so you can hop out of 2D!
A note for coloring black spaces! They don't always scan perfectly black as much as we artists would love it to do just that. Be sure to color each stroke in the same direction, just so the different shapes don't distract the eye. But that is perfectly acceptable in abstract art! >D
Mmhmm, I think I get what you're saying with the hair. Now that I look at it, I can see that I am coloring it all together instead of individual strands.... I'll work at that XD
and the black made me sad. the deathnote is not supposed to be abstract! DX
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

I never played Chain of Memories, but I can never actually remember Zexion actually having more than one expression. xDDD
The hair turned out very nicely and the eye's gorgeous! If that blue is like this on the computer screen, I can't imagine what it's like in real life!
